About the Opportunity:

We’ve been asked to find a materials buyer for one of our clients based in East London. This role will report to the existing head of procurement and will offer opportunity for those looking to develop their career and progress with time.

Your day to day duties will involve liaising with sites to make sure all items are being ordered and delivered at the correct times to keep operations running smoothly. While trade agreements are in place you may from time to time be required to negotiate on prices with suppliers but this should be normal for anyone who has done this before.

So, all in all, this opportunity offers an excellent position with a market leader in the RC frame & groundwork sector, but in addition there is potential for the future of your career.

About the Employer:

Currently operating with a turnover around £80 million per annum, this privately-owned specialist concrete frame and groundwork subcontractor build packages ranging from £1m up to £20 million each. They have become preferred supplies to a number of top tier residential main contractors and developers, such as Kier, Telford Homes, Osborne, Barratt Homes and Hill Partnerships, with the majority of their projects being inside the M25 and in and around East London predominantly.

This business has a very good reputation in the market with both its clients and with rivals. They maintain a quality approach to everything they do, while partnering with businesses rather than fighting them. They have a low staff turnover and an inner core of staff that really work well together as a team. And like many others, they are still growing and looking at ways to expand what they already do, while keeping growth at a considered rate.

On a side note, to back up the relationship the MD of the business has with his inner core, most years the team are known to go on skiing holidays and similar together. Not only to grab some well-earned recuperation time, but also to help them forge as a team at the centre of the business. This company really does thrive from maintaining relationships both internally and with everyone they work with.

About the Requirements:

To be successful all applicants need to have previous experience either working for a rival groundwork or RC frame subcontractor in a buying position. This will mean you have an understanding of all the items involved and the sort of rates for each, but more importantly you’ll understand the pace, culture and work ethic required to operate in this field.

In addition to this experience because of the location of our client, all applicants need to be able to commute on a daily basis to the East London area.

About the Benefits:

The estimated starting salary for this role has been given as £30,000 to £45,000 and will be based on previous experience in this role. In addition to this you can expect additional benefits including company pension scheme and target-based bonuses further down the line. Outside of these package-based items, I do also consider it a benefit that you will be working for this fantastic employer, that can offer you job security, development and enjoyment. They hold on to their team, so you can be assured they must be doing things right.
