About the company:

Our client has provided 100,000+ homes since it was formed in the 1940’s, they are one of the biggest house builders in the country and employ well over 1350 people with expertise covering a range of development disciplines. They are involved in land acquisition, finance, planning, architecture, design, build management, marketing and customer service. Our client is designed, built and marketed by local teams operating from regional offices managed and staffed by local people. This allows the company to take key decisions about design, build, and materials, planning and marketing in response to local demands. Designers and other consultants tend to be local, which makes for house designs with a strong regional identity in tune with the local vernacular.

About the opportunity:

My client is currently looking to expand their current procurement team with the additional of a buyer with at least 5 years construction experience working either main contract or developer side. They have recently had a senior level buyer leave the team which allows you significant room for growth if you are coming at a more junior level in terms of experience. You will be provided structured training and guidance from the Chief Buyer as well as being given a good amount of responsibility looking after the procurement of large scale multi-unit residential schemes. The company are well-known for promoting from within, with this regional office boasting some of the youngest management teams across the business.

About the benefits and rewards:

A basic salary of up to £55k per annum plus car allowance and benefits package.

About the requirements:

3 years’ experience with a major developer or main contractor in the role of Buyer or Assistant Buyer, managing at least 2 no. projects in material procurement.

Experience to include; Negotiation with suppliers, Value engineering, Measuring and scheduling materials such as bricks and blocks, Preparing budgets for all materials on site.
