About the employer:

Based in Hertfordshire, Our Client is classed as an industry leader within the Carpentry and Joinery Sector, who are notably put of a construction group with annual turnover cica £150m. With over 30 years’ experience in delivering high end interior packages across London’s major construction schemes, this contractor have built firm relationships with a wide network of repeat business clients ranging from medium sized to Tier 1 Contractors.

The Role.

Due to successful tendering and strong market demand our client is looking to expand their pre-construction team and is in the market place for an experienced Buyer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join this dynamic established contractor who are continuously growing and looking to expand. The role is based at their head office in Hertfordshire with a competitive salary and package benefits. You’ll be reporting to the Group procurement Director and will be working closely with the commercial team

Overview

To manage the company’s supply of products and services. The Buyers responsibilities include finding cost-effective deals and suppliers. The Buyer’s duty is to discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses, so that the company can invest in growth and people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies
  • Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
  • Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
  • Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
  • Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  • Create and update procurement price lists for key materials categories with preferred suppliers.
  • Place material and plant orders for designated contracts with preferred suppliers
  • Attend project handovers / site meetings when required to understand scope of works, materials required and site logistics.
  • Dealing with any invoice discrepancies concerning designated projects and ensure these are resolved. Chase for Credit Notes or PODs if required and ensure Invoices are placed on hold until resolved. Ensure Surveyors are informed of the progress of any queries.
  • Monitor materials in stores and carry out quarterly stock takes. Ensure that Site Managers are informed of material availability from stores to reduce stock.

About the benefits / rewards:

The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary between £35,000 – £50,000. This is an important strategic position within the business and offers a direct structured route to directorship
