About the opportunity:

The Managing Director of this niche design and build Contractor is looking for a Business Development Manager who is experienced in growing and managing client relationships through modern business development and marketing mechanisms.

As Business Development Manager you will be responsible for formulating a sales plan and a strategy to develop the company’s business activities, which will generate meaningful and profitable business for the company.

Working in a client-facing capacity, you will ensure the business is delivering to both the strategic objectives and core values. On a day to day basis, you will make regular catch up calls and visits with existing and new clients to continue to strengthen relationships and enhance your own knowledge of the customer’s present and future needs.

 

About the requirements:

The ideal professional for this position will have worked in a Business Development role previously and have proven experience of developing close professional relationships with external clients, which will have resulted in profitable business for the company. It would be useful if the professional held an Engineering degree, however it is more important that you are naturally enthusiastic in your approach, passionate about business growth, innovative and entrepreneurial with a hunger to do well.

An insight into laboratories, clean rooms, research, spaces and manufacturing facilities will prove useful, as will a general understanding of design and build processes. This will enable you to discuss intelligently and confidently the services this client has to offer to potential customers.

Our client is a niche Construction Consultancy and Principle Contractor, that was established 80 years ago and has since been pivotal in designing and building facilities that produce food, beverages and medicines in the UK and US. You could say that our client has been operating behind-the-scenes as the small-but-mighty force behind your favourite bar of chocolate, that block of mature cheddar in your fridge, the creation of collaborative research spaces that cures cancer, the crafters of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that give you the medicines in your cabinet, the bottles that house your fizzy drink.

Our client is proud of their forward-thinking approach and early adopters of software such as 3D modelling and BIM. They have a large portfolio of works to date and, over the years, have designed and built facilities that produce cannabinoid medicine, built facilities that produce medicine in Gambia, and even increased capacity for life-giving and lifesaving plasma manufacturing.

In terms of their structure they currently employ 50 staff in the UK, including Project Managers and Cost Managers, with a dedicated Design team also based in the office.
