About the company

My client is a specialist Water & Civil Engineering contractor turning over £20M per annum. They are, however, part of a larger group turning over £90M. They focus on design; engineering & construction and they have built up a brilliant reputation with South East Water. The work involves the civil and mechanical design, construction, refurbishment, and commissioning of water treatment works and pumping stations across South East Water’s supply area, serving parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire. The contract they are working on will run until 2025 but they have an option to extend it until 2030, this gives all their team great, long-term stability.

About the opportunity:

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, will be responsible for managing costs across projects, ensuring each is profitable. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on NEC contracts within wastewater & clean water, with all the works being high volume, low-cost work. General duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Knowledge, understanding and administration of respective entitlements and obligations under the main contract and sub-contracts.
  • Administration of contract records.
  • Assisting the management of sub-contract payments including negotiation of subcontract variations and monitoring and reconciliation of contra-charge accounts.
  • Collation of accurate information for monthly cost/value reconciliations and contract reviews.
  • Audit, agreement and reconciliation of measurements against systemised actuals.
  • Weekly cost / value report generations.
  • Assist with target cost generation.
  • Assist with the production of financial and statistical reports as required.
  • Close liaison with, and provision of assistance to, operational and support staff.

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification) in Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this opportunity, you should have experience of working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within the utility / water industry for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor in the UK and have knowledge of NEC 3 and 4 Contracts.

This opportunity is a permanent position. No freelancers can be considered.

A UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
